Marco Andretti Confirms Return to Indianapolis 500 in 2024

1 years ago By Sports Desk

Marco Andretti has officially announced his return to the Indianapolis 500 in 2024, marking his 19th attempt at the legendary race. The driver will race for the Andretti Global team, just like in the previous 18 races.

Andretti has recently encountered a series of misfortunes in this legendary race where he aims to break the string of bad luck known as the “Andretti Curse”. After a disappointing qualifying session last year, the 36-year-old made it clear that he was unable to match the performance of his team-mate Kyle Kirkwood.

Despite a famous pole position win in 2020, it hasn’t been easy for Andretti at Indianapolis in recent years. Its appearance in the bottom 10 dates back to 2017, and its appearance in the top 5 dates back to 2014. His best finish was second on his first attempt in 2006, an agonizing overtake to the finish line in one of the closest finishes in the race’s history.

The official confirmation of his participation in this year’s Indianapolis 500 is eagerly awaited by Andretti’s fans. Marco Andretti overcoming the odds and hoping to win this coveted trophy will be an exciting memory for fans.

In keeping with tradition, Andretti will race in the #98 car and compete with the support of MAPEI, a leading manufacturer of chemical products. Michael Andretti, CEO and President of Andretti Global, expressed his delight at the driver’s return to the legendary race and emphasized the honor of welcoming a new brand as a major partner.

The Andretti Global team is returning to the traditional four registers they run full-time. The confirmation of Marco Andretti’s participation in the 2024 Indianapolis 500 is a major milestone, and fans can expect more news and updates as we get closer to the race.

There will be a few notable new starters at the Indianapolis 500 this year, one of which is Helio Castroneves returning to Meyer Shank Racing. Additionally, Christian Rasmussen will be one of five rookie drivers who will take part in an additional entry for Ed Carpenter Racing for the race in May.

The 2024 season promises extra excitement with 34 registrations confirmed so far, which means one more registration required, meaning the qualifiers will be important again. Marco Andretti’s return to the legendary Indianapolis circuit is another important development expected in this exciting racing season.
