Red Bull’s Brutal Nickname for Perez Sparks Outrage Among F1 Fans

1 years ago By Sports Desk

In this really fast and interconnected world of today, where, due to the internet, every piece of information reaches people so quickly and gets either appreciated or criticised, F1 contents are also no exception. Just like the F1 cars are very fast, earning criticism from the fans is also that fast.

A very recent social media post from the reigning champion team, the Austrian Red Bull Racing team, has sparked outrage and disgust among the F1 fans. The post depicted three-time world champion Max Verstappen as a lion and referred to his teammate Sergio Perez as just a friendly dog.

Although he won two of the first four races of the season, Mexican driver Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez was unable to secure another victory during the course of the following races. But it was mainly due to the team strategy to favour their best driver, Max, to win the championship.

On the other hand, his fellow teammate Max Verstappen had a record-breaking 2023 F1 season, in which the Dutch driver garnered 21 podium finishes and won 19 races out of those.

Max Verstappen has always been favoured by the Red Bull team over Sergio Perez, and this latest incident has reignited those rumours once again, with some claiming that the Mexicans’ 2024 F1 ticket is in jeopardy.

There was no malice intended in the message, though, as the team teasingly brought up a recent response from Perez when asked what animal he believes he would be most closely connected with.

However, the supporters rushed to social media to voice their disappointment with the club, claiming that Sergio Perez was little more than “a friendly dog.” But they also have to believe that a dog is not just any normal and simple animal; it’s the most faithful and bravest too. And these are the two qualities that also define Checo’s personality. So being referred to or idtifying oneself as a dog is much like a compliment.
