Team Penske owner and principal Roger Penske has given his thoughts about NASCAR’s stance on hybrid vs. electric. As there are talks in almost every spot to go carbon neutral lately, the NASCAR series is not exceptional. The motorsport world is heavily criticised for its use of conventional fossil fuels and the ecological impact they have. Existential motorsport competitions, except the electrical ones, are regularly criticised for their carbon footprints too.So, renewable technology and fuel resources are being tested to be implemented in most of the Motorsports departments, and NASCAR is no exception. And the owner of Team Penske said that he sees hybrids and hydrogen as more likely options than electric to power NASCAR’s future.Indeed, hybrid vehicles, which run mainly on hydrogen fuel, are the best options to go for as a clean and eco-friendly fuel. While giving an interview, Roger Penske said “I think the hybrid formula seems to be something that will make a lot of sense as we go forward because we’ve been seeing electrification kind of slow down here lately. I think hybrid is more of a bridging strategy for the future.” This isn’t the first time that the 86-year-old has leaned into the science of cleaner energy sources. Penske also owns the NTT IndyCar Series, which revealed that its new 2.2-litre twin-turbocharged hybrid V-6 engine would make its inaugural drive during the second half of the 2024 season.
F1 Team Manager Fred Vasseur Voices Concerns Over Red Bull-AlphaTauri Alliance
Another F1 team has voiced concerns Over the Red Bull-AlphaTauri Alliance. This comes after strong protests from others teams and an open letter from McLaren principal Zak Brown. Ferrari Team Manager Fred Vasseur has recently raised his concerns regarding the alliance between two sister teams, Red Bull and Alpha Tauri. Starting in 2024, the AlphaTauri will be more heavily reliant on the senior team than ever. AlphaTauri is set to increase the parts it takes from the senior Red Bull team going into 2024 under the new CEO Peter Bayer and new Team Principle Laurent Mekies. People like Helmut Marko stated a few months earlier that the AlphaTauri team will be much less independent next year and that the two teams will take help from each other as much as possible. and since then, many teams have raised their voices regarding the closeness and ownership of the two teams. Talking about his concern The Ferrari team manager said“I think we have to police what the teams are doing with their junior teams, which maybe isn’t the right word,” Vasseur said at a Ferrari media lunch last week. “For me, it is not the right way because, for me, Toro Rosso, AlphaTauri, or Minardi, I don’t know what the next one is! It’s true that what they are doing together [with Red Bull] is a strange situation with two teams owned by the same company. “But the FIA has been able to manage it so far, and I am sure they will be able to in the future.” This is not the first time that an F1 team has raised concerns about the two sister teams. A few days ago, MMcLaren’s CEO, Zak Brown, sent an open letter to every team asking for banning one of the two teams for their close ties and same ownership.
Martin Blames Setbacks in Indonesia and Australia for Losing MotoGP Championship to Bagnaia
Jorge Martin blames the setbacks in Indonesia and Australia for losing the 2023 MotoGP championship to Peco Bagnaia. After making his first significant error in eleven Grand Prix, Martin made an unnecessary tyre gamble in Australia a week later, which caused him to fall from first to fifth position on the very last lap. Thus, Martin’s 7-point advantage following the Indonesian Sprint turned into a 27-point disadvantage following Australia. “With what we accomplished this season as a satellite squad, we made history. The thirteen victories, every podium, and every lap in the lead make me happy. I thought the work was excellent,” Martin remarked. “We achieved much more than the goal, which was to place among the top three in the title. Of course, you don’t want to lose it when you’re that close to [the title]. The Pramac Ducati driver has consistently performed at an elite level throughout the seasons, giving Peco Bainaia the ultimate fight for the championship. After taking a 7-point lead in the Saturday sprint race of the Indonesian Gp over championship rival Peco Bagnaia, the Spanish driver took a healthy early lead in the main race on Sunday, but in the end, he crashed out of the lead, and eventually Peco Bagnaia took the first prize in the race. This disappointing result was soon followed by another mistake in the Australian GP, where tyre gambling caused him to retyre from the race, whereas his rival Peco Bagnaia finished the Australian GP with a 2nd-place podium finish. These rare mistakes from Jorge Martin eventually resulted in the 7-point lead becoming a 27-point deficit after the weekend in AustralianGP. Surely there were still chances for Martin to win the championship after these two races, but speaking in a recent interview, he particularly underlined these races for losing the championship to Peco Bagnaia.
James Hinchcliffe Declares 2023 IndyCar Champion Palou “Not Human”
James Hinchcliffe, the former IndyCar racer now turned commentator, has labelled 2023 IndyCar Champion Alex Palou as “not human.”. In 2023, Alex Palou demonstrated the most dominant Indycar season in recent years. Starting his season strongly, the Spaniard upped his game with each race, ultimately clinching the championship with one race left. He is marking his second Indycar championship in three years with Chip Ganassi Racing. In a season where there were many different race winners,Palou finished the season with a staggering five race wins and 10 podium finishes. With the ongoing conflict between Alex Palou and McLaren, the Spaniard has coped well with this news. looked much calmer and composed on the field and performed at such a high level throughout the season. Picking Alex Palou as the driver of the season and pointing out this exact dispute between Mclare Palou, James Hinchcliffe said, “I’m not entirely sure what Palou is made out of; he might not be human! It just didn’t seem like anything could faze him.” “We haven’t seen IndyCar perform as clinically as he did every single weekend in a long time. According to the statistics, Paulou had the lowest finish of the season—eighth—in the season’s first game. When we discuss the fiercely competitive IndyCar era and how difficult it is to win these races, Palou’s accomplishment of taking home as many victories in some of the most dominant ways was truly remarkable. Hinchcliffe identifies one specific factor that, when combined with the off-track pressure Palou has faced as a result of contract disputes between Ganassi and McLaren that implicate the young driver, makes the Spanish driver the fearsome rival he is. According to Hinchcliffe’s remarks, “There’s a mental strength there; that’s very evident.” Even people we refer to as “The Iceman,” Scott Dixon, are not perfect; occasionally, you’ll hear an angry radio broadcast or speak with an interviewer who is frustrated—after all, he’s still human. “I’m not quite sure what Palou is composed of; he may not even be human! He simply didn’t seem to be affected by anything.
McLaren CEO Brown Urges F1 Chiefs to Ban Red Bull, Issues Open Letter
In an open letter published on Thursday evening, McLaren F1 team principal Zak Brown once again sparked the debate surrounding Redbull and its affiliated entities in F1. This letter comes to criticism Red Bull to own two teams in the F1, one is rhe Austraian licensed Red Bull Racing, another is the Italian licensed Alpha Tauri, which is used for developing future talents for the Red Bull Main team. With the open letter, Zak Brown has urged all F1 chiefs to ban common ownerships in F1. Although he didn’t mention any spespecificams Redbull and Alphatauri are the only two teams with common ownership in F1. This is not the first time that the Mclaren CEO has openly attacked the two sister teams, a few days ago in a team press he heavily criticized the relationship of these two team. In the letter the McLaren CEO wrote “Most other major sports prohibit the ownership of two teams within the same league because of the obvious potential damage that it does to competition. “It’s an unhealthy situation because it impacts decisions made both on and off the track.“Whether it’s a case of having access to more data, sharing components/personnel, or even having influence over a strategic vote, it’s not in the spirit of the regulations.” In his letter, he further added “I believe Formula 1 fans universally believe in fairness in competition and a level playing field and would reject any actions that compromise the true spirit of competition within Formula 1. Part sharing of information, shared ownership models, and strategic alliances within the sporting fabric of Formula 1 will only serve to undermine the fans’ belief in fair and fierce competition.” This ongoing rift is a result of recent exchanges of words between the members of the two teams and further adds to the bitter-sweet on field battle of the two teams.
