Sebastian Vettel’s F1 Future Decided Amid Speculation Over Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes Spot

1 years ago By Sports Desk

The world of Formula 1 is full of twists and turns, and strange rumors are once again dominating the headlines. This time, the focus is on four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, whose future in F1 has only recently been decided as speculation rages about Lewis Hamilton’s place at Mercedes.

Vettel will retire from F1 at the end of 2022 after two seasons at Aston Martin and memorable spells at Ferrari and Red Bull. Despite retiring from the track in 2023, the German driver continued his involvement in the sport as director of the Grand Prix Drivers Association (GPDA).

Recently, however, attention has turned to Vettel’s possible return, with speculation surrounding a possible role for the Mercedes team. This will be especially important after it has been confirmed that Lewis Hamilton will finish his final season with Mercedes in 2024, before joining the legendary Ferrari team from 2025.

Alexander Urz, president of the GPDA, confirmed in an interview with PlanetF1 that Vettel had stepped down from his role as an active director, but emphasized that he would remain an important figure in the organization. Wurz expressed his delight at Vettel’s involvement in the GPDA debate, explaining that the federation’s current situation allows it to have three managers, whether they are active in racing or not.

Speculation has intensified that Vettel could join Mercedes following the vacancy of Hamilton, one of F1’s most successful drivers. Toto Wolff, the boss of Mercedes, did not rule out Max Verstappen replacing Hamilton, but he remains uncertain about the place of the seven-time world champion.

Vettel’s continued role in the GPDA highlights his commitment to the F1 community even after his retirement from racing. If he decides to return as a driver, especially for the Mercedes team, it will add a new layer of intrigue to the upcoming Formula 1 season.

The pieces of the F1 puzzle are falling into place, fans are eagerly waiting to see how Vettel’s future will unfold and whether he will actually have one of the coveted seats on the F1 grid. One thing is certain: the Formula 1 scene is ripe for more excitement and surprises as the next season approaches.
