Patrick Mahomes, And Travis Kelce Invest In Alpine F1 Team

1 years ago By Sports Desk

When you think of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, touchdown passes and NFL glory likely come to mind. These Kansas City Chiefs stars are known for their gridiron prowess, but now they’re making waves in a different kind of race: the high-speed world of Formula 1.

In a surprise move, Mahomes and Kelce, along with a star-studded group of investors, have stepped into the Formula 1 arena, making a substantial investment in the Alpine F1 Team.

This investment not only brings fresh funds but also an infusion of sportsmanship and winning mentality to one of the most exciting racing series in the world.

From Touchdowns to the Race Track:

Patrick Mahomes, the 28-year-old superstar quarterback, is no stranger to the spotlight. Known for his cannon arm, incredible athleticism, and a Super Bowl ring, Mahomes has been a sensation in the NFL. Meanwhile, Travis Kelce, aged 34, is renowned as one of the best tight ends in the league.

These Chiefs standouts have a combined list of accomplishments that reads like a sports fan’s dream.

But what happens when you take two NFL stars and put them in a different kind of arena? You get a significant investment in Formula 1, the pinnacle of motorsport.

Mahomes and Kelce are now part of a diverse and star-studded group of investors that have pooled a staggering €200 million ($210.97 million) into the Alpine F1 Team.

The Alpine Formula 1 Team:

Before delving into what this investment means, it’s essential to understand the landscape of Formula 1 and the team in focus, Alpine. Alpine, formerly known as Renault, returned to Formula 1 in 2017.

However, they’ve faced their fair share of challenges in consistently competing for wins and championships. While the team scored a victory at the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix, it has struggled to maintain that level of performance.

The All-Star Investment Group: In June, Renault Group took a significant step by selling a 24% stake in the Alpine F1 Team to a consortium of investors, which included Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners, and Maximum Efforts Investments.

Notably, Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who own Wrexham FC, were among the high-profile investors in this group. This was a noteworthy development, and it signaled the beginning of a new era for the Alpine team.

But it didn’t stop there. This week, just ahead of the U.S. Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, Otro Capital announced a fresh wave of investors, and this is where Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce come into play.

Joining Mahomes and Kelce in this investment group are sports icons from various disciplines:

Rory McIlroy

The four-time golf major champion is no stranger to elite competition. His precision and drive on the golf course may prove to be an asset for Alpine Racing. Trent Alexander-Arnold: The Liverpool FC star is known for his exceptional skills on the football pitch. His involvement adds another dimension to this diverse group of investors.

Juan Mata:

A World Cup winner and Premier League legend, Juan Mata brings a wealth of experience and sportsmanship. Anthony Joshua: The former world heavyweight boxing champion knows a thing or two about physical and mental strength. His discipline and mindset could be invaluable for the Alpine team. Roger Ehrenberg: An investor in sports franchises like the Miami Marlins and Real Salt Lake, Ehrenberg’s financial acumen and sporting interests make him a valuable addition.

A Shared Passion for Excellence:

This new investor group brings not just substantial funds but a shared passion for excellence in sports and competition. It’s about uniting athletes and investors who understand that relentless pursuit of excellence is the key to success in any arena. For Patrick Mahomes, this opportunity is an exciting one.

He and Travis Kelce, along with Otro Capital, are taking on the Alpine F1 adventure and are ready to make a difference. Mahomes sees it as an opportunity to bring their shared values to the world stage. It’s about embracing the chance to be a part of something extraordinary and contributing their passion and commitment to this incredible team.

Rory McIlroy echoes these sentiments, highlighting the connection between a passion for excellence in golf and Formula 1. This venture unites his love for sports, competition, and the relentless drive to be the best.

The collective skills and experience of this diverse group of investors may just be what the Alpine F1 Team needs to become a true contender in the world of Formula 1.

As the world awaits the end of 2023 Formula 1 season, the partnership between these sports legends and Alpine Racing is set to be a defining moment in the history of motorsport. It’s a testament to the universal appeal and competitive spirit that Formula 1 continues to evoke around the globe.

Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and their fellow investors have shown that the thrill of competition knows no boundaries, whether on the football field, golf course, boxing ring, or race track. They’ve taken their talents to the race track, and fans around the world are eagerly watching as this incredible journey unfolds.
