1 years ago By Sports Desk

As the 2023 MotoGP season nears its conclusion, the focus in the world of motorcycle racing is already shifting towards the 2024 season. With a flurry of rider changes, contract extensions, and team shifts, the rider and team lineups for the 2024 season promise excitement, rivalry, and fresh challenges. Let’s delve into the confirmed lineups and significant changes as MotoGP gears up for another thrilling year of competition.

Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team

This powerhouse Yamaha team is sticking with the current lineup for the 2024 season. The youthful and exceptionally talented Fabio Quartararo, who has been a consistent front-runner in recent seasons, will continue to spearhead Yamaha’s campaign. He will be joined by Alex Rins, who recently made the switch from Suzuki. Both riders have contracts extending to the end of 2024, ensuring stability and continuity.

Ducati Lenovo Team

Ducati’s factory team remains unchanged for 2024, with Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini continuing their partnership. Bagnaia’s impressive performances have made him a championship contender, and the Italian rider will aim to secure the title for Ducati. Bastianini, despite a challenging debut year, has shown promise and determination, earning another opportunity with the factory team.

Aprilia Racing

Aprilia Racing retains its current lineup, which combines experience and potential. Aleix Espargaro, who has been the face of Aprilia, will continue to lead the team. His relentless efforts to push the Aprilia bike to new heights have been commendable. Joining him is Maverick Vinales, who moved from Yamaha. Vinales’ arrival at Aprilia has brought fresh energy, and the team looks forward to a strong 2024 campaign.

Repsol Honda Team

The Repsol Honda Team is going through a significant transition in 2024. The departure of the iconic Marc Marquez after an 11-year association with Honda left a void that is yet to be filled. Honda has yet to announce the rider who will take over Marquez’s factory bike. The decision is highly anticipated, as it will define Honda’s future in MotoGP. Names like Miguel Oliveira and Maverick Vinales have been circulating as potential successors.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing

KTM’s factory team maintains its current rider duo for 2024. Jack Miller and Brad Binder will continue to be the backbone of the team. Miller, who is known for his aggressive riding style, will be eager to make a significant impact on KTM’s fortunes. Brad Binder, the South African rider with immense potential, will strive for consistency and podium finishes. Additionally, Pedro Acosta will graduate from Moto2 into the MotoGP ranks with the Tech3 GASGAS team.

Gresini Racing MotoGP (Ducati)

Gresini Ducati’s most prominent signing for 2024 is none other than Marc Marquez. The eight-time world champion’s move to the Ducati camp has generated substantial excitement. Marquez will be racing alongside his brother, Alex Marquez, who continues his journey with the team.

Prima Pramac Racing (Ducati)

On the Prima Pramac Racing team, Ducati has a strong presence. Jorge Martin, a rising star in MotoGP, has a Ducati contract extending to the end of 2024. Franco Morbidelli, after being dropped from Yamaha, has joined Pramac and is set to bring his considerable skills and experience to the team.

Mooney VR46 Racing Team (Ducati)

The Mooney VR46 Racing Team is another Ducati outfit with a stable 2024 lineup. Luca Marini and Marco Bezzecchi will continue to ride for the team. Marini and Bezzecchi are expected to challenge their fellow Ducati riders and push the team to new heights in the upcoming season.

RNF MotoGP Team (Aprilia)

The RNF MotoGP Team’s lineup includes Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez, both under Aprilia contracts until the end of 2024. Oliveira, who has previously ridden for KTM, will look to adapt to the Aprilia bike and showcase his skills. Raul Fernandez, a talented rookie, is expected to make waves in his debut season.

Tech3 GASGAS Factory Racing (KTM)

Tech3 GASGAS will feature Augusto Fernandez, who has a KTM contract until the end of 2024. Pedro Acosta, making the jump from Moto2, will join the team as part of his KTM contract.

LCR Honda Castrol/Idemitsu

LCR Honda underwent notable changes in 2024. Johann Zarco, a talented rider known for his consistency, joins the team with a Honda contract extending until the end of 2025. Takaaki Nakagami, who has been with LCR Honda, continues with a Honda contract until the end of 2024.

Honda Turmoil

The departure of Marc Marquez from Honda marked the end of an era. His replacement is yet to be confirmed, and the decision will significantly impact the team’s performance in the coming season. Alex Rins, who recently joined Honda, will depart for Yamaha in 2024, opening up a spot at LCR Honda. Rumors suggest that Johann Zarco, after his move from Pramac Ducati, might be considered for Repsol Honda.

Yamaha’s New Duo

Yamaha’s factory team will feature Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins in 2024. Rins’ shift from LCR Honda to Yamaha brings an exciting combination of talents to the team.

KTM’s Solution

KTM has found a solution to its rider conundrum. Jack Miller and Brad Binder will continue as the factory duo, while Pedro Acosta graduates to MotoGP. Pol Espargaro, although missing out on a full-time seat, will race as a wild card in 2024.

As the 2023 season concludes, fans and teams are already looking ahead to 2024 with great anticipation. The rider and team lineups promise a thrilling season with a blend of experienced champions and emerging talents, and the changes in the rider landscape will undoubtedly shake up the MotoGP world.
