Mick Schumacher ‘not ready to let go of F1 dream’ despite ‘exhausting’ fight

9 months ago By Sports Desk

Mick Schumacher says he is not ready to give up his Formula 1 dream and is determined to prove his critics wrong. The son of legendary seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher, Mick has not competed in F1 since losing his seat at Haas at the end of the 2022 season, his second year in the category.

Since then, the 25-year-old has served as reserve driver for Mercedes and focused on a return to the F1 grid. Schumacher admitted in an interview with The Independent that the fight to return is “exhausting”, but that he is not yet ready to give up. “You get this amazing cake, but you can’t eat it. And you have to watch everyone eat it. It’s probably hard, but I know why I do it,” he explained.

Schumacher reflects on his evolution since leaving F1, noting that the person he is today is very different to the one he was two years ago. “F1 has been a dream since I was five years old and I’m not ready to give up on that dream, am I? Sometimes you feel you have a chance, but then something happens and it doesn’t happen. That’s all an emotional and exhausting rollercoaster in the last few years, but I’m working on getting back,” he declared.

Recently, Mick has been linked as a possible replacement for Esteban Ocon at Alpine next season as he races for the French manufacturer in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). Showing optimism, he joked: “Maybe I’ll start writing my resume and send it to people! It’s never been a secret, my goal is to get back into the net.”

Schumacher is confident he can prove his critics, including former Haas team boss Guenther Steiner, wrong. “There are a lot of things that remain unseen, especially from a driving point of view. I understand how I could have improved at Haas, and there is a lot more to show from my side. It all depends on what you want you. team right .Someone who can build a good marketing team?

Showing his hunger and determination, Mick concluded: “I’m very hungry for it. I just need to keep shining in the WEC, show everyone what I can do. Then people will know what they’re getting when they sign me, and hopefully I can prove to everyone that they made the wrong decision not to keep me.”

Schumacher’s persistence and continued dedication to motorsport shows that he is not ready to give up on his dream of following in his father’s footsteps and securing a permanent place on the Formula 1 grid.
