Maverick Vinales Anticipates Strong Aprilia Performance for Portuguese MotoGP

11 months ago By Sports Desk

Maverick Viñales, Aprilia’s rider for the 2024 MotoGP season, is confident that the increased downforce generated by the new bike can contribute to a strong weekend at the tough Portimão circuit. Although he has yet to find a comfortable balance with this year’s Aprilia, Vinales believes the bike’s advanced aerodynamic features can be a significant advantage at this track.

After modest results in the Lusal races, where he finished ninth and tenth, Viñales is determined to improve his performance in Portimão. He emphasized the importance of the extra downforce and other improvements on the new bike, indicating that the circuit could be favorable for the Aprilia team.

Portimão has historically been a good track for Viñales, who will hope to capitalize on that advantage with improvements to this year’s bike. He stressed that despite the initial challenges of adapting to the new bike, he believes in the team’s potential to achieve good results at this demanding track.

Vinales also compared the new bike to the previous version, highlighting significant differences in handling and ride feel. He stressed the importance of finding the right balance with the bike’s new equipment to maximize its performance in qualifying and race sessions.

Despite the initial setbacks, Vinales expressed confidence in the team’s ability to recover quickly and compete at the highest level. He realized the need to adjust the bike’s configuration to improve rear downforce and achieve optimal performance.

In short, Viñales stressed the importance of finding the right balance in the bike’s configuration to maximize Aprilia’s performance in Portimão. With optimism and determination, he is ready to take on the challenges of the circuit and compete at the highest level during the race weekend.
