Lando Norris Identifies Key Weakness in McLaren’s 2024 F1 Car

1 years ago By Sports Desk

During a thrilling Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, McLaren driver Lando Norris made a key revelation about the team’s Formula 1 car for the 2024 season. In a post-race interview, Norris highlighted a significant weakness in the team’s performance. McLaren car cornering at low speeds compared to its competitors.

Despite a good start to the season, with Norris on the podium at the Australian Grand Prix, the British driver pointed out that the team still needed to fix this issue in order to consistently challenge for podiums. He noted that while the McLaren car excels in high-speed corners, it loses significant time in low-speed corners, which affects its overall racing performance.

Norris also expressed confidence that the team will overcome this weakness, pointing out that they can achieve good results on tracks that favor McLaren’s car. He cited last year’s Suzuka race as an example of the team’s strong weekend and expressed optimism that they could repeat that performance with car development.

Team principal Andrea Stella also noted the car’s weaknesses in cornering at low speeds, admitting that Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc rightly performed as well as Norris at the Australian Grand Prix due to Ferrari’s faster car in that regard. However, Stella pointed out that the gap in performance between McLaren and its competitors is not large, which gives hope for future races, especially at tracks such as Suzuka, where the characteristics of the McLaren car are more favorable.

Taken together, the statements from Norris and Stella highlight the importance of identifying and addressing the weaknesses of the McLaren cars in order to ensure a consistent and competitive performance in the 2024 Formula 1 season. With confidence in Norris’ driving ability, Formula 1 fans can expect an exciting battle in future races, while McLaren strives to achieve his goal of standing on the podium.
