KTM Takes Unanticipated Position on 2025 MotoGP Rider Market

11 months ago By Sports Desk

Surprising with a twist, KTM has announced an unexpected position in the 2025 MotoGP rider market. KTM’s Director of Motorsport, Pete Bearer, shared important information about the team’s future plans, highlighting important changes in both motorcycle development and team expansion. “We can still do better; our bike can improve.

I think we’ve done that this year. My goal is to be competitive this season,” Bearer said, acknowledging the need for continued bike improvement. These comments reflect KTM’s pursuit of excellence in the highly competitive environment of MotoGP.

In addition, Beyer pointed to changes in the training program and added that the Red Bulls Athletic Center (APC) in Talgau, Austria will provide strong support to the drivers. This approach demonstrates the team’s commitment not only to motorcycle performance, but also to the physical and mental development of the riders.

But the surprise is when Bearer considers its entry into the driver market for 2025. Despite the rumors and speculation on the pitch, the sporting director insisted that he is not considering any new recruitment at the moment and is focusing on strengthening the four existing drivers. But then again there’s the phrase “at this point,” and instead of a faux pas, it feels like an honest statement that reflects Baer’s current priorities.

Baer’s answer about the need for a third party is very interesting. Attempts to extend its presence during the 2024 season failed due to Dorner’s unwillingness to open up a two-manufacturer grid slot for a new KTM-backed team. This may have had something to do with the Ajo team’s move to MotoGP after being successful in Moto2.

Bearer says they’re still “discussing” the issue, but from what we understand from the response, those discussions aren’t primarily with Dorna. “We are already very close with four bikes. If we think we need a third party, we need to find one. If we believe that two groups are enough, we should leave the situation as it is. We are currently in the process. , with some contracts expiring, some teams are looking for a producer.

But “these discussions are ongoing…it’s definitely not a one-way decision,” Byrer said. KTM’s unexpected position in the 2025 MotoGP rider market adds an interesting element to the team’s dynamic. The prospect of a third team and a change in motorcycle development strategy is fueling excitement about decisions affecting KTM’s future in MotoGP. Now fans and observers are eagerly waiting to see how these decisions will shape the competitive landscape in the coming seasons.
