Joan Mir: New Honda Deal is a Major Boost

1 years ago By Sports Desk

Last week, Joan Mir secured his future in MotoGP by signing a new two-year contract with Repsol Honda. This agreement with the renowned Japanese brand comes as a great relief and motivation for the Spanish rider, especially in a year that has been challenging in his second campaign with the team.

Mir, who is preparing for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, shared his enthusiasm about the contract renewal. “We had a good break, with a little time to relax and lots of time to train and prepare for the second part of the season. I’m very pleased to have my future with HRC confirmed, and it’s another boost as we enter this intense push until the end of the season,” said Mir.

The rider also highlighted the beauty of the special liveries for Silverstone, drawing attention to the new aesthetics of the bike. “Silverstone this year will be amazing with all the special liveries. I have to say our one is probably the most beautiful I have seen in MotoGP,” he said. However, Mir emphasized that what really matters is the progress the team makes on the track. “The focus and objectives remain the same as always,” he added.

The new contract extension puts Mir ahead of his teammate Luca Marini and LCR rider Johann Zarco, both contracted until the end of 2025. For Marini, who has shown steady improvements, the focus is on continuing this progress at Silverstone. “I am looking forward to getting back with the team at Silverstone, to see what has been done during the break and what the plan is for the upcoming races. Silverstone is a complex track, very long with many different sections – a good way to assess ourselves,” said Marini.

The British Grand Prix at Silverstone will be special this year, marking the 75th anniversary of MotoGP. Marini also shared his excitement about wearing the new colors designed for the occasion. “It will be special with the 75th anniversary, I’m really excited to wear the colors we have designed and I hope we can put in a good performance and build on our races before the summer,” he added.

Joan Mir’s journey with Honda has been filled with ups and downs, but the contract renewal brings new hope. With his future with HRC confirmed, Mir is more determined than ever to show his worth and contribute to the team’s progress in the second half of the season. The British Grand Prix at Silverstone promises to be an exciting event, not only because of the competition but also due to the celebrations and the renewed spirit of the riders and teams.
