Honda advised to focus on 2027 rules, writes off current season

1 years ago By Sports Desk

Honda has been advised to focus on the 2027 rules and effectively cancel the current MotoGP season. The Japanese manufacturer, once a dominant force in the series, faces significant problems this year, with its drivers struggling at the bottom of the grid and facing ongoing performance challenges.

The advice to prioritize development for the new 2027 regulations came in light of Honda’s troubling situation in the current season. Neil Hodgson, analyzing for TNT Sport, highlighted the team’s difficult position and noted that their recent performances have been underwhelming. He emphasized the importance of focusing on improvements for the future as it seems impossible for the team to achieve success in the current season.

Honda’s situation this season is worrying, with its drivers often struggling at the back of the grid and struggling to keep pace with the leaders. In several races, the Honda drivers were placed in the bottom positions and the team faced a significant number of crashes and setbacks throughout the season.

Given this reality, the proposal to focus on the 2027 rules and virtually scrap the current season seems like a reasonable approach. Sylvain Guintoli also expressed concern about the team’s performance, stressing the need to devote time and resources to the future development of the bike.

Honda has faced a number of technical and performance challenges this season, and a long-term strategic approach appears to be needed to overcome these issues. Focusing on the new 2027 rules could give the team the opportunity to rebuild and develop a more competitive bike for the future.

The decision to “sweep this season” could allow Honda to experiment and test different approaches and set-ups during race weekends, to prepare for a stronger comeback in the future. It is essential that the team make the most of the testing releases available and work diligently to develop the bike to ensure more competitive performance in the coming seasons.

Despite the challenges Honda has faced this season, it is important to recognize its record of success in MotoGP and hold out hope for a future recovery. With the right support and a renewed focus on technical development, the team can return to the top of the division and compete for success in the coming seasons.
