Fabio Quartararo bemoans Yamaha’s loss of power in the long corners at the season opener in Qatar

The MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix left 2021 champion Fabio Quartararo disappointed with Yamaha’s performance. Quartararo admitted that the team faced problems in the first race of the 2024 season, as the Yamaha bike performed below expectations.

Quartararo, who finished 11th in the race, expressed his frustration in a post-race interview. He pointed out how the Yamaha lost power in the long corners, which was a significant advantage last season.

The French rider described the situation as a challenge and mentioned that the Yamaha could not maintain the pace in the long corners, where he had previously had an advantage over his rivals.

Yamaha’s disappointing performance led Quartararo to express concern about the team’s future in 2024. He stressed that Yamaha must analyze the situation and find solutions to improve the bike’s performance.

Furthermore, Quartararo stressed that the lack of speed in the long corners hampered the team’s performance at the Qatar Grand Prix. He emphasized that the team must work hard to correct these shortcomings and return to competitiveness.

The loss of advantage in the long corners is a blow for Yamaha, which faces strong competition this season. With other teams showing improvement in their performance, Yamaha must adapt quickly to remain competitive.

The Yamaha team faces a big challenge to regain their championship position after an unconvincing performance in Qatar. Since the season has just started, there is time for the team to adjust and improve their performance in future races.

Quartararo emphasized the importance of analyzing race data and working closely with the technical team to find solutions to the problems Yamaha was facing.

Overall, Yamaha’s performance at the Qatar Grand Prix fell short of expectations, leaving Quartararo and the team searching for answers. With the MotoGP season in full swing, it remains to be seen whether the team can overcome these challenges and regain their position as the main contenders in the championship.
