Andrea Iannone Discusses MotoGP Rumors and His Desire to Stay in WorldSBK for 2025

8 months ago By Sports Desk

Andrea Iannone, currently racing for the GoEleven Ducati team in WorldSBK, is making headlines due to speculation about a possible return to MotoGP and his ambitions for the 2025 season. In an interview last weekend at the Donington Park GP, Iannone clearly expressed his desire to remain in the Superbikes category but under different conditions.

Iannone is not shy about wanting the chance to compete with a factory bike in a factory team, rather than with an independent team. With Álvaro Bautista’s future still uncertain, Iannone is patiently waiting for a potential promotion to the Aruba.it Ducati team, which could provide him with the much-desired factory bike.

Despite rumors about his return to MotoGP, Iannone remains focused on his current priorities. “There’s a lot of news, but I follow my priority as before,” Iannone said. “If people are waiting, I’m waiting, no problem. I’m not stressed, I have my target. I know what I want and I want to fight for it.”

He reflected on the competition in WorldSBK, comparing it with MotoGP and highlighting the differences in the atmosphere and support he receives. “The reality is that in Assen we finished the race very close to victory,” Iannone noted, emphasizing the competitiveness he experiences in the Superbikes category.

For Iannone, the passion and team spirit in the WorldSBK paddock are key aspects that attract him. He mentioned that while independent teams in MotoGP are at a good level, the atmosphere in the WorldSBK paddock has a more familial and welcoming character. “It’s a bit different. It’s another championship, another story. This championship is really good, I love it, and the passion within this paddock makes me prefer racing here,” Iannone stated.

The Italian rider also highlighted the importance of having full factory support to be successful in WorldSBK. “My opinion is not to stress. It’s important to have a factory bike in WorldSBK, with factory support,” Iannone said, reaffirming his desire to compete with a team that offers the best equipment and support possible.

As Iannone awaits further developments in the rider market and the future of his career, he remains focused on achieving the best possible results with his current team and looks forward to a promising future in WorldSBK.
