Alpine reveal key trait they want in search for Esteban Ocon replacement

9 months ago By Sports Desk

The Alpine team is looking for a new driver to replace Esteban Ocon in the 2025 Formula 1 season. The announcement came after an incident at the Monaco Grand Prix where Ocon collided with his teammate Pierre Gasly. Although both insist the crash did not influence the decision to part ways, the team is determined to find the ideal candidate to take Ocon’s place.

During the Canadian Grand Prix, Bruno Famin, director of the Alpine team, emphasized that the main characteristic the team looks for in a new pilot is professionalism. “The relationship between the drivers doesn’t matter. Professionalism matters. We need professional drivers,” Famin said in an interview with Sky Sports F1 in Montreal. He stressed the importance of managers working together to achieve the best results for the team.

Among the candidates being considered is Alpine’s reserve driver, Jack Doohan, who has impressed the team with his performance in testing. “He’s an option, for sure. Jack’s a possibility,” Famin explained. “We’re preparing it; it has a pretty intensive testing program, and we’re happy with that. We’ll see how it develops.”

However, Doohan is not the only name on the list. Other drivers linked to the vacancy include Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu. Mick Schumacher, currently a Mercedes reserve driver and competing for Alpine in the World Endurance Championship, is also considered an option, although he is considered a less likely candidate at the moment.

In addition to these names, other prominent pilots who have not yet secured their seats for the next season are also being considered. Among them are Carlos Sainz, Daniel Ricciardo, Kevin Magnussen, and Logan Sargeant. Alpine carefully evaluates all options to ensure that the final choice contributes to the continued success of the team.

Esteban Ocon’s future in Formula 1 is still uncertain, but Alpine is focused on finding a replacement who brings not only driving skills but also a high level of professionalism and teamwork. Famin emphasized that regardless of who is chosen, it is essential that the new manager works well with Gasly and contributes positively to the team environment.

The 2025 season promises to bring new dynamics to Alpine, and the choice of Ocon’s replacement will be a determining factor in the team’s success in the coming years. Looking for a driver who combines talent and professionalism, Alpine hopes to continue building a strong and competitive team in Formula 1.
