Brad Binder’s Unconventional Pre-Race Ritual: Scooter Adventures

1 years ago By Sports Desk

MotoGP rider Brad Binder had a challenging day at the Le Mans circuit, suffering double crashes during practice on Friday. The South African, representing the KTM factory team, struggled to stay on the bike, crashing three times on the day and finishing 17th. This forced him to take part in Qualifying 1 for the French Grand Prix on Saturday.

Despite the hardships, Binder found humor in commenting on his unusual pre-race ritual: scooter adventures. He joked that he was transported by scooter for most of the day, due to frequent falls. Despite the problems, Binder admitted he felt confident and achieved good speed during laps on the track. However, repeated crashes, all of which occurred at Turn 13, highlighted the need for adjustments to his approach.

Binder explained that he entered the penultimate corner later than his teammates, which may have contributed to the accidents. He expressed the hope that identifying this change could help avoid similar problems in the future.

While Binder dealt with his setbacks, teammate Jack Miller performed more consistently and secured a place in Qualifier 2 with a sixth-place finish. Miller praised the bike’s performance, noting its stability and ability to maintain momentum throughout the course. He emphasized the importance of fine tuning to ensure competitiveness in the upcoming sessions and in the race.

Despite Binder’s challenges, rookie Pedro Acosta surprised by emerging as the top RC16 driver, finishing third. Acosta’s performance highlighted his potential and was a positive start to the weekend for both him and his team.

As drivers prepare for the upcoming qualifying sessions and the main race on Sunday, they remain focused on improving their set-ups and strategies to maximize race day performance. With Le Mans having delivered another exciting MotoGP spectacle, fans can expect intense battles and thrilling action on track throughout the weekend.
