VR46 Content with Ducati, Eyes Automatic 2025 Renewal Option

1 years ago By Sports Desk

VR46, the racing team led by the legendary Valentino Rossi, is currently in the midst of crucial negotiations to determine its future in the MotoGP category. According to recent information from Crash.net, the team has expressed its satisfaction with the current partnership with Ducati and is considering the possibility of an automatic renewal for the 2025 season.

Despite being happy with Ducati, VR46 believes he deserves more after a great campaign last year. Marco Becci, riding a one-year-old bike, took three wins and finished third in the World Championship. However, with this year’s GP23 machine proving less competitive against factory rivals, the team is in negotiations with Ducati looking for at least one factory engine.

In the meantime, negotiations with Yamaha are also underway. However, recent reports suggest that VR46 has rejected the offer from Yamaha, which was interested in increasing its presence on the 2025 network by adding a satellite project. This decision suggests that VR46 will likely continue its path with Ducati, where Rossi enjoyed his glory days and remains the brand’s ambassador.

While VR46 looks for a more favorable deal with Ducati, the future of the Pramac satellite team is also in the spotlight. Despite finishing second in the World Championship last year and leading the 2024 standings, Pramac has not yet confirmed a new contract with Ducati. Substantiated rumors in the paddock link Pramac to Yamaha, which could mean a significant change in the satellite group landscape.

With VR46 indicating its intention to stay with Ducati, Yamaha may need a plan B, possibly involving Paramac, to secure a satellite team and overcome the race data disadvantage of using only two motorcycles.

Ultimately, the ongoing negotiations highlight the complexity and dynamism of the MotoGP world. While teams like VR46 and Pramac look for the best deal to guarantee future success, Ducati and Yamaha are working to strengthen their positions in the championship and on the 2025 grid.

As negotiations progress and decisions are made, fans wait with bated breath to see how the MotoGP landscape will unfold next season. Meanwhile, uncertainty and excitement continue to define the motorcycle racing world.
