MotoGP Transfer Market: Quartararo’s Decision Leaves Few Riders Available

1 years ago By Sports Desk

Fabio Quartararo’s contract renewal with Yamaha for the 2025 season has had a major impact on the MotoGP transfer market, leaving few riders available for teams looking to bolster their ranks for next year. With Quartararo securing his place on the Yamaha factory team, several other teams are now in a state of uncertainty regarding their line-ups for next season.

While Yamaha is breathing a sigh of relief to secure the retention of its talented rider, other teams are facing challenges in finding top riders to fill their spots. Aprilia, for example, is currently the only factory team without confirmed drivers for 2025. With Quartararo previously linked to rumored negotiations with the team, there is speculation that new contracts could be announced soon, possibly in which featuring current drivers Aleix Espargaro and/or Maverick Viñales.

At Ducati, despite the confirmation of Francesco Bagnaia and Fermin Aldeguer for 2025, Quartararo’s renewal has limited the team’s financial ability to attract other prominent riders. This could make negotiations difficult with riders such as Jorge Martin, who have expressed an interest in joining Ducati’s factory team.

At Honda, uncertainty over the future of Joan Mir and the exclusion of Quartararo as a signing option could lead the team to consider riders from satellite teams Ducati and Aprilia as viable alternatives.

KTM, on the other hand, appears to be in a more stable position, with the team focusing on renewing its current riders. However, there is speculation about a swap between Jack Miller and Pedro Acosta depending on how Augusto Fernandez performs.

In summary, Quartararo’s decision to stay at Yamaha has had a major impact on the MotoGP transfer market, leaving few options available for teams looking to strengthen their line-ups for 2025. With negotiations ongoing and several teams looking for riders from the highlight, the coming weeks promise to be exciting as the market evolves and teams set their formations for next season.
