F1 2023 Championship: Breaking Down the Records Set by Verstappen and Red Bull

The 2023 F1 championship season saw utter dominance from the Austrian Red Bull Racing Team and their sensational talent, the Dutchman, Max Verstappen. And not only Max, their another driver , Sergio ‘Checo’ Perez also had a successful and wonderful season.
And , surely a dominant season means the making of new records, the breaking of older records and lots of controversy. But controversy apart, here in this article,  we’re gonna be discussing about the records set by the legendary Max Verstappen and the Red Bull Racing team.

So, in the route to their drivers’ and constructors’ title double in 2023, both Max Verstappen and Red Bull has created and smashed up  a lot of records throughout the season. 

So, let’s just take a look at the records set and broke by Red Bull and Max Verstappen in 2023 Formula 1 season,-

1. With a total of 19 race wins out of the existing 22 races in the 2023 F1 calendar, Max Verstappen has created a record for most wins in a season, surpassing his own record of having 15 wins in the last season, the 2022 F1 Championship,  where he also won the championship. 


2. Max Verstappen, the young and exciting Dutchman, was on podium 21 times this 2023 season, which beats his previous record of 18 podiums from the  2021 season.

3. Most wins on a single streak-with 10 wins on a single go, Max Verstappen  has broken record of most consecutive wins in a single season. He has broken the record of another Red Bull legend, Sebastian Vettel’s record of 9 consecutive wins on a single season. That he set in 2013 with the same team, Red Bull.

4. Verstappen has won 12 races by starting on the top position in the grid-, The  previous record was of 9 wins from pole held by Nigel Mansell (1992) and the former Reb Bull driver Sebastian Vettel (2011). Verstappen went far clear of them by 3 more races this season.

5.Max Verstappen has scored a  massive amount of championship  points this year- He has gathered  575 points this year, 121 points more than the previous record of 454 points from the previous year, also set by this Dutch driver.

6. Verstappen became the first ever F1 driver to take three F1 race victories in one country during a single year, after winning all three grands prix in the USA in 2023. It started with a win at the Miami GP in May, before victories in Austin and Vegas later in the year.

7. In 2023, Max Verstappen also racked up the most Sprint race wins in a season, with victories at Spielberg, Spa -Francorchamps, Austin and Interlagos eclipsing Valtteri Bottas’ two from 2021.

8. Max Verstappen also made the most pit stops by a winning driver in one race, boxing six times in a rainy racing encounter on his home soil at Zandvoort circuit  the toughest of them all – equalling Jenson Button’s tally from the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix.

9. Even though there are more races these days, Verstappen’s record 19 wins out of the 22 races granted him with an very high percentage, an 86.3% winning rate, more than 10% ahead of the next-best percentage from former F1 driver Ascari. 

10. The greatest title-winning margin for a driver in the history of the sport was achieved by Verstappen, who beat Vettel’s advantage of 155 points over Alonso in 2013 with a margin of 290 points over teammate Sergio Perez.  


11. Red Bull’s title-winning margin of 451 points over Mercedes was the most for a constructor ever as a points difference between no.1 and 2 on the Constructors championship. 

12. In the 2023 F1 season,The  Red Bull team collected 860 points as a team over the course of the campaign, which is also the most points collected by a single team in a season. . That beat Mercedes’ 765 from 2016 and Red Bull’s own 759 from 2022.

13. Red Bull, As a team had won 21 of the 22 races in 2023 season calendar.  The most ever in a season by any existing team.

14. At the Abu Dhabi season finale, Max Verstappen has also gone over 1,000 laps while leading the race. He led 1,003 of 1,325 laps, which put him in the lead 75% of the time. Vettel’s 739 of 1,133 laps from 2011 was the next best percentage.
