McLaren CEO Brown Urges F1 Chiefs to Ban Red Bull, Issues Open Letter

1 years ago By Sports Desk

In an open letter published on Thursday evening, McLaren F1 team principal Zak Brown once again sparked the debate surrounding Redbull and its affiliated entities in F1.

This letter comes to criticism Red Bull to own two teams in the F1, one is rhe Austraian licensed Red Bull Racing, another is the Italian licensed Alpha Tauri, which is used for developing future talents for the Red Bull Main  team.

With the open letter, Zak Brown has urged all F1 chiefs to ban common ownerships in F1. Although he didn’t mention any spespecificams Redbull and Alphatauri are the only two teams with common ownership in F1.

This is not the first time that the Mclaren CEO has openly attacked the two sister teams, a few days ago in a team press he heavily criticized the relationship of these two team.

In the letter the McLaren CEO wrote
“Most other major sports prohibit the ownership of two teams within the same league because of the obvious potential damage that it does to competition.

“It’s an unhealthy situation because it impacts decisions made both on and off the track.
“Whether it’s a case of having access to more data, sharing components/personnel, or even having influence over a strategic vote, it’s not in the spirit of the regulations.”

In his letter, he further added “I believe Formula 1 fans universally believe in fairness in competition and a level playing field and would reject any actions that compromise the true spirit of competition within Formula 1. Part sharing of information, shared ownership models, and strategic alliances within the sporting fabric of Formula 1 will only serve to undermine the fans’ belief in fair and fierce competition.”

This ongoing rift is a result of recent exchanges of words between the members of the two teams and further adds to the bitter-sweet on field battle of the two teams.
