Pato O’Ward Dismisses Danica Patrick’s Claims on Logan Sargent’s Popularity in America

1 years ago By Sports Desk

Danica Patrick’s comment on Logan Sargent regarding his popularity in the United States is ‘inaccurate’, says the superstar IndyCar driver Pato O’Ward.

After completing his first rookie season in F1 in 2023, Lorgan Sargent became the first driver from the United States to score any points in F1 for almost 30 years. Ending the draft run of the US racers in F1.

After Sargeant broke this record, former NASCAR and IndyCar racer Danica Patrick praised the young American F1 driver heavily for his accomplishment. But she also said that he isn’t that popular in America.

In recent comments while covering broadcasting services for the F1, Danica Patrick said that since the young American driver spent much of his entire career time in Europe and made his way up the ranks in F1, in which all things are mostly European, especially the teams and drivers, he isn’t that popular in the USA.

She also added that “he is only getting famous now as he is spending more time in Formula 1.”.

It’s really awesome,” Patrick recently said. “I mean, it’s great that an American has had a point.” I think it’s been a very long time since Michael Andretti was born, so that’s great. In the States, we don’t really know him all that well.

Now, superstar Indycar driver Pato O’ward dismisses the comments made by Danica Patrick’s, stating that many European drivers were popular in America. The Mexican driver, by saying this, suggested that the location of their upbringing doesn’t influence their popularity.

Pato O’Ward added that he doesn’t believe that because Logan Sargeant hasn’t gone through the American ranks, he isn’t very popular.

In 2024, Sargeant will return to the Williams F1 squad for his sophomore campaign. Starring in McLaren’s test sessions is Pato O’Ward, who intends to eventually compete in Formula One.

“To tell the truth, many Americans are unaware of the existence of IndyCar. Therefore, I don’t think it really matters. I believe it typically refers to outcomes.”

O’Ward added that as soon as Logan Sargeant lays down some wonderful drives and wins, his popularity will skyrocket in America. He concluded by saying:
“I think it has nothing to do with, ‘Oh, he wasn’t in America’ — that is not accurate at all.”

As Williams F1 announced, Logan Sergeant is all set to spend another season on the grid. Only time can tell us whether the popularity of Sargaent in America will skyrocket or not.
